Rotating disks in high-mass young stellar objects

چکیده
We report on the detection of four rotating massive disks in two regions of high-mass star formation. The disks are perpendicular to known bipolar outflows and turn out to be unstable but long lived. We infer that accretion onto the embedded (proto)stars must proceed through the disks with rates of∼10 M⊙ yr . Local stability criterion for self-gravitating disks in modified gravity
We study local stability of self-gravitating fluid and stellar disk in the context of modified gravity theories which predict a Yukawa-like term in the gravitational potential of a point mass. We investigate the effect of such a Yukawa-like term on the dynamics of self-gravitating disks. More specifically, we investigate the consequences of the presence of this term for the local stability of t...

We have completed a systematic survey for disks around young brown dwarfs and very low mass stars. By choosing a well-defined sample and by obtaining sensitive thermal IR observations, we can make an unbiased measurement of the disk fraction around such low mass objects. We find that ≈75% of our sample show intrinsic IR excesses, indicative of circum(sub)stellar disks. We discuss the physical p...
متن کاملDisks around Young O-B (Proto)Stars: Observations and Theory
Disks are a natural outcome of the star formation process in which they play a crucial role. Luminous, massive stars of spectral type earlier than B4 are likely to be those that benefit most from the existence of accretion disks, which may significantly reduce the effect of radiation pressure on the accreting material. The scope of the present contribution is to review the current knowledge abo...
متن کاملMagnetohydrodynamic Origin of Jets from Accretion Disks
A review is made of recent magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) theory and simulations of origin of jets from accretion disks. Many compact astrophysical objects emit powerful, highly-collimated, oppositely directed jets. Included are the extra galactic radio jets of active galaxies and quasars, and old compact stars in binaries, and emission line jets in young stellar objects. It is widely thought that t...
متن کاملX-Ray Flares of Sun-Like Young Stellar Objects and Their Effects on Protoplanetary Disks
Astronomical observations of flares from analogs of the early Sun have the potential to give critical insights into the high energy irradiation environment of protoplanetary disks. Solar-mass young stellar objects are significantly more X-ray luminous than the typical low-mass T Tauri star. They undergo frequent strong flaring on a several day time scale. Very powerful flares also occur, but on...
